Viking P.R.I.D.E.

Parents recognizing, inspiring, developing and enhancing our Catholic high school community

Mission Statement:  To enhance and promote Bishop Verot Catholic High School’s educational excellence through the support of our staff, students and the entire school community. We are a group of parents who are finding new ways to enrich our involvement with Verot. Every parent is a member of Viking PRIDE. Below you'll find several Viking P.R.I.D.E. committees serving various functions around the school. We invite you to get involved by emailing the committee chair to learn how you can help.

Why should I be active with Viking Pride?

It helps keeps you in closer touch with the school your child attends.

We provide great ways for you to develop new friends and socialize with old ones.

It gives you a place to utilize your God given talents of kindness and sharing.

Volunteering for Viking Pride makes you feel good and sets a good example for the students.

It helps the school accomplish so much more by having extra help where and when needed.

Fundraising by Viking Pride helps pay for student academic recognition, teacher
   mini-grants, staff appreciation and more.

Involvement: There are several ways to be involved in Viking Pride. You decide what fits your schedule.

Staff Appreciation‐provides various homemade breakfast and lunches for staff throughout the year.  Drop it off or stay and help serve.

Annual Gala/Auction‐assist with our "Over 21" Viking Community Social Event and fundraiser.

Texas Hold'em Tournament - Assist with organizing this parent event by selling tickets, set-up and clean-up, and helping at the event.

Volunteer where needed‐ by adding your name to our database, when things come up, we send out an email and if you are available, you can sign up to help out. If you know in advance you have a certain day or times available, sign up to help in various locations throughout the school. (front office, nurse's office, bookstore, development office, etc)

Attend Events‐ this is an important one. Viking Pride sets up social events for parents to come together as a community, not only to support our children and our school, but each other.

Assist the Admissions Office - Help with Verot Visit Days, Freshman Placement Exam days and Open House.

How do I get involved?

Be sure to fill out a Viking PRIDE Volunteer Registration Form. The chairperson for that area of interest will contact you. (Forms are available in the front office.)

Read the BV newsletter emailed to you weekly, "The eblast". It will have great information about upcoming events and volunteer opportunities.

Spirit of '74 Scholarship Fund

http://www.bvhs.org/sites/default/files/users/user31/Spirit%20of%2074.jpg

Dear Fellow Vikings,

On behalf of the 1974 Viking Football Team, the only undefeated football team in Viking history and recently inducted into the Bishop Verot Hall of Fame, we ask that you join our fellow teammates, classmates and their families, to honor the legacy of those golden years of the ‘70s, by contributing to the “Spirit of ‘74” scholarship fund. Our goal is to raise enough principal funds to sponsor students that are in financial need and would like to experience a superior Catholic education, and reap the benefits of the Catholic community that  we were privileged to receive at Bishop Verot High School. We currently have over $60,000 endowed to our fund and our goal is to double that by school year’s end.  Please join us by sending your contribution to Bishop Verot’s Spirit of ’74 fund today. This is an opportunity for all members of the Verot community in the 1970s to show how much Bishop Verot has meant to us throughout our lives.

Thanks you and we look forward to hearing from all of you in the near future.
Sincerely,

John Sheppard, David Malt '75, Joe O'Conner '75, Ron Vecchie '75
